Fan Dies at Coors Field After Fall

During the 7th inning of Tuesdays Colorado Rockies game, Robert Seamans, 27, attempted to slide down the railing of a staircase at Coors Field when he lost his balance and fell 20 feet, hiting his head on the concrete. About 12 hours after his accident he was declared braindead.

The team released the following statement:
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of this young man as we all grieve for his loss.”

Jason Giambi also spoke out on the matter:
“You definitely don’t want somebody’s experience at the ballpark to be something like that. It’s supposed to be uplifting and an enjoyment for the fans. That’s a terrible thing to hear.”

It is tragic, and our condolences go out to Robert’s family and friends. Unfortunately us fans hear about this stuff way to often and it goes to show that accidents can happen anywhere when you least expect it. Please be smart about the decisions you all make, not only at ballparks, but everywhere.

Following xrays on his leg, it was reported that Buster Posey has broken his leg and torn ligaments. Brandon Belt and Chris Stewart have both been called up. Belt will replace the offensive hole Posey has left and Stewart will fill in as catcher.

Bonds Comes Up Classy

Barry Bonds catches flack from everyone (yes even on our page), like one of those guys people wait to tear apart. Well seems everyone is talking about him again, but this time we applaud him. Attorney Thomas Giardi- who now represents the Stow family in their lawsuit against the Dodgers for the Opening Day attack- said that Bonds has stepped forward and donated to pay for the college tuition of Bryan’s two kids.

The big guy has a big heart too apparently. This classy move is something that cannot be knocked!

- We have our first no-hitter of the season. Congrats to Francisco Liriano- the lefty who had never thrown a shut out got his no-no as the Twins defeated the White Sox 1-0. Watch the video of the last out and the celebration here !

- Andre Ethier is still rolling. He extended his streak to 29 against the Cubs as he singled on a line drive off Dempster in the bottom of the fourth.

- Hey, remember Latos? (Giants fans sure do). If he hadn’t been known for his antics in signing autographs before- he will now be known as a pitcher who hits home runs. Well he hit one out of the park against the Pirates on Tuesday night.

- The Frank McCourt saga (unfortunately) continues. He gave an interview Tuesday afternoon.. read about it here . I’m really exhausted from all of his coverage.

- Another DUI - Shin-Soo Choo (say it isn’t so!) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Monday. Choo’s breath test came back at 0.201, more than double the legal limit for driving of 0.08. Despite the arrest, Choo still went on to play in the game Tuesday night in Oakland. When are these athletes going to learn?! IT ISN’T WORTH IT. There are no excuses to not get a driver.

A little glimpse of the old Derek Lowe shining through? Lowe was arrested in Atlanta last night and charged for DUI, reckless driving and failing to maintain in the lanes. Although he refused to take the breath test, he failed a field sobriety test. He was released after posting bail early this morning. Head on here to watch him so the walk of shame.

Hey, maybe he was just trying to get home to prepare for the Royal Wedding?
